I think that what makes a good page turner is a book with a realistic emotion- maybe a feeling a loss or sadness.. or the tension in a relationship... i think anything, as long as it's real!Priya Shankarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18414730198707625395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6444034717227197579.post-48804942070198244852011-04-10T16:27:19.666-07:002011-04-10T16:27:19.666-07:00The books I most enjoy reading are the ones where ...The books I most enjoy reading are the ones where I forget the writer is writing. Frankly, too much tension and I'm done for. I like a more leisurely pace, a setting, a plot, some deeper meaning. I like to know what the characters are thinking.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6444034717227197579.post-40915295686876785952011-04-09T18:08:18.336-07:002011-04-09T18:08:18.336-07:00Hmmm, that's a good one. I also think realistic dialogue is always good, people like talking and in lieu of talking, listening to other people talk! But dialogue is tough, I find it is what I stress about most when I write.

As for books about writing. I always find they're most useful in the editing/drafting stage. I think don't consciously try to write according to the book. But when you're re-reading what you've written and you're wondering why it's not quite working or how you could improve (cull!) it - then I think all of that stuff that you read in the books about writing will come back to you.Tom Hakkinenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11320029007805632871noreply@blogger.com
